Akeem was in the white car that was almost crushed by the trailer when it fell from the bridge in Ojuelegba. Miraculously he escaped from his car without any hurt. A grateful Akeem who spoke to the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), said he was full of praises to God.

Accidents of this nature are not new in Lagos, news about trucks and trailers wrecking havoc on Lagos roads are common. This latest incident however, has elicited outrage from residents of Lagos who are asking the authorities what measures are being taken to ensure that such ugly incidents don’t occur again.

Joe Adedeji, a banker who spoke with Naij.com correspondent, said the constant re-occurrence of such road mishaps, call to question the plans put in place to rid the roads of rickety buses and rickety trucks and trailers that ply the highways.

Adedeji urged the government and the authorities concerned with safety on the road, to ensure that such mishaps are averted, by ensuring that the roads are properly maintained and the vehicles in perfect order to be driven.

He also pleaded that a quick intervention be made to help ease grid-locks, and aid the free flow of traffic jams as he claimed that traffic jams also pose a threat to Lagosians.
