28-year-old Rebecca Morris-Roberts suffers an extremely rare condition which stops her heart and breathing until she is technically dead. But seconds later, her body manages to 'jump-start' itself, bringing Rebecca back to life.
She has suffered reflex anoxic seizures - thought to affect only four people in the UK - since she was a teenager. And they are usually brought on by a bout of nerves.
“My eyes roll up into my head, my lips and face turn grey, my body stiffens, I stop breathing and begin to convulse,” she said.
“When I go through it I’m out for the count and I don’t know anything about it until I come around. My body somehow ‘defibs’ itself. It’s such an unusual condition and I have no idea what causes it. I do something even superheroes can’t do – I regenerate!”
So when she decided to tie the knot with long-term boyfriend Elfyn Morris-Roberts in April 2014, her family feared she might “die” walking down the aisle.
After much deliberation Rebecca, decided to have a pacemaker fitted just three months before the big day.
“I didn’t initially want to have it. From the age of 16 to 21, I was told by various doctors that I was making it up and being a drama queen,” said Rebecca, who is originally from Wrexham.
“So when I was diagnosed with reflex anoxic seizures I finally felt like I’d taken control. Mentally, I wasn’t ready for a pacemaker. I didn’t want to look back at our wedding photos and think something else was helping me live. But then I was told that every time I had an episode it would diminish my chances of recovery by 10%. I was living on borrowed time. That’s when I realised I was being selfish so I decided to have it fitted – 54 years earlier than the average pacemaker.”
Adrenaline junkie Rebecca, who has worked as an outdoor activity specialist and loves canoeing and abseiling, said her wedding day went by without needing to call the paramedics.
“I have always had a fear of being in front of people and my father followed me around the whole venue because he feared something would happen,” she added.
“But I was completely relaxed. I was so proud to be sat at the top table looking at all the people who had been brought together. They all know what I’m going through and they didn’t pity me. I didn’t have to hide anything from them. It was incredible.”
Former student Rebecca met love-of-her-life Elfyn during her time studying for a degree at Bangor University.
“I had been with him for eight months and then I was diagnosed so he was really thrown in at the deep end,” she joked.
“He’s found me after a few episodes but he’s only properly seen one. We share a bed together and when my breathing gets shallow he frantically wakes me up asking if I’m okay.

President Obama threw a spectacular state dinner for Chinese leader Xi Jinping on Friday night and his wife Michelle Obama stole the show!
Michelle Obama who wore a $2,300 dress to meet the Pope this week opted for a black, off-the-shoulder mermaid gown created by Chinese-American designer Vera Wang.
A powerhouse line-up of diplomacy, big business and Hollywood made Obama's guest list for the extravagant feast at the White House to honor the visit of president Xi. The black-tie affair was not only attended by top-level politicians from both countries - with the likes of Facebook and Apple bosses Mark Zuckerberg and his pregnant wife, Priscilla Chan, and Tim Cook joining the two presidents at the top table for the glitzy event. You wanted to surprise your wife by shopping for the family on your way back from work, and as a sharp guy, you wanted to find out if it really cost, let’s say, N10,000 to prepare a pot of ‘banga’ soup as she claims. You stopped at Mile 12 market in Lagos where she normally does her shopping.
You bought everything and discovered that ‘madam’ had been playing you ‘boju boju’ with the money for food. You were cursing under your breath and sweating profusely as you pushed your way through the crowded market to where you parked your car and a little boy said, “Oga, you too fine to dey carry your load by yourself naa. See as you dey sweat. Make I help you. Oga I no go charge you too much, na only N50.”
A statement like that should have made you feel important, but you didn’t budge. You simply ignored and looked ahead resolutely, much to the little boy’s disappointment.
You refused to accept his offer even when it was evident that you were struggling to hold on to the ‘gbogbo ero’ you bought. You didn’t trust the market boy or cart pusher, fearing they could take off with your stuff. Most of us are often guilty of this. Does it ever occur to you that by denying that little market boy or the cart pusher your luggage, you may have denied someone their daily bread? Does it occur to you that if that market boy doesn’t make enough to survive on, he might be forced to go into armed robbery or kidnapping? Who knows if the guys that kidnapped Olu Falae were once market boys and cart pushers who couldn’t make enough to survive daily?
Many of us fail to understand how privileged we are that we can comfortably afford both our needs and wants, and that those at the bottom of the economic pyramid look upon us to make their lives better.
We fail to fathom the responsibility bestowed on us by the society to make impact on the less-privileged. Why then should we complain when the rate of crime among the youth is ever on the rise?
Why do we always put the blame solely on the government when the ‘agberos’ and the jobless among us make our neighbourhoods unsafe to live in? With our selfishness, we are daily churning out criminals borne out of poverty and who are engrossed in their current trade because we care little about them.
No society that is borne out of selfishness can rid itself of poverty, disease, and uncivil people by wholly relying on their government to do so. No society! We all bear the responsibility of creating the society we wish for. I am not supporting kidnapping or lazy people, but it is appalling to see the huge economic disparities that characterise our society.
The capitalist mind that has built the modern Nigerian society is unprecedented.
Those who reside in urban loftiness do not care whether their neighbours can afford basic needs such as food. Even churches amassing bountiful offerings and tithes don’t care if members of their congregation have anything to eat when they get home after church services. We would rather create a dependency syndrome. Most people with domestic help rarely want their domestic help to develop beyond that status. We want our lowly-endowed friends and relatives to always look upon us when they need help. Don’t you wonder how some entertainers drive the latest Porsche or Range Rover SUVs, yet their parents or siblings can hardly afford food? This has become the definition of civilisation for us. We don’t realise that we only need to help out just a little to make someone’s life better.
How many of us have been committed to ensuring that the poor but bright child in our neighbourhood goes to school, or helping a dutiful house help to learn a skill that will help them become independent, or simply creating a job for a hard working and disciplined jobless person?
Would Nigeria not be a safer and better place if we became our brother’s keeper? We are all guilty for the spate of kidnappings and insecurity in the country. Everyone is guilty, including me. Source: Lindaikeji What Do You Think? Comment And Share Now!!!
Kaley Cuoco and Ryan Sweeting are getting divorced less than two years after being married.
The Big Bang Theory star and the tennis player wed in a lavish ceremony in December 2013 after dating for only six months. Back in April the actress, who only recently gave an interview where she gushed about her husband , blasted people who were 'trashing' their relationship. Sharing an image of Ryan playing tennis, she wrote:
"Today is Easter/ It's about love, gratitude, and rejoicing in all that we have-so that's what im going to do - I have never been more proud of anyone on this planet - this guy is fighting back from a whirlwind of injuries and not to mention constant 'conversation' regarding our marriage and basically any daily decision we decide to make."
Confirming the split, Kaley's spokesperson said: "Kaley Cuoco and Ryan Sweeting have mutually decided to end their marriage." They added to People magazine: "They ask for privacy at this time. No further statement will be issued regarding this matter." The actress has since removed all traces of Ryan from her social media accounts. Source: Lindaikeji What Do You Think? An inmate who escaped from a high-rise federal jail in Chicago is suing the Government because he says the government was negligent in enabling his breakout, so he's suing for $10 million for damages. The 7th U.S. Court of Appeals said in a Friday ruling that Jose Banks "gets credit for chutzpah." But a three-judge panel at the Chicago-based court tossed his 2014 lawsuit.
"No one has a personal right to be better guarded or more securely restrained, so as to be unable to commit a crime," the ruling said.
In a 2012 jailbreak, Banks and a cellmate climbed down 17 stories on a rope fashioned from bed sheets and dental floss, then hailed a cab. Banks, now 40, was caught within days and his cellmate within weeks.
Banks' suit says the damages he suffered from the escape included the trauma of dangling on the makeshift rope in fear of his life.
Authorities dropped the escape charges against him because he was going to prison for decades anyway on a bank robbery conviction.
But Banks, who represented himself in the civil case, alleged his cellmate forced him to participate in the escape, which took months to plan and execute. His suit says guards should have noticed the two were chiseling an escape hole in their cell and should have stopped them long before they fled.
Banks says he has had to endure tighter restrictions than fellow inmates at his current prison because of the escape from the Metropolitan Correctional Center three years ago.
The suit also claims Banks has suffered "damage to his reputation," as well as "humiliation and embarrassment," and what Banks calls "injury" to his "spiritual constitution." Source: Lindaikeji
Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose who spoke in Ikenne-Remo, Ogun State, warned Nigerian politicians to desist from playing politics with the death of the late matriarch of Awolowo dynasty, Chief (Mrs) Hannah Idowu Dideolu Awolowo.
He said the deceased should not be celebrated for political reasons, advising that politicians should rather sustain her legacy and that of her late husband, Chief Obafemi Awolowo. The Ekiti governor noted that visiting the Awolowos should not just be a one-off thing aimed at making publicity stunts. He added:
“One thing I like to remind all politicians; it is in our way to make politics out of people’s lives, to celebrate them for political reasons. Source: Lindaikeji What Do You Think? Comment And Share Now!!!
